Product Details

Metacam Oral Suspension for Cats and Guinea Pigs may be used to treat long term musculo-skeletal disorders, sudden and short lived musculoskeletal disorders such as injury, and for the reduction of post-eropative pain and inflammation. Do not use Metacam in kittens younger than 6 weeks old or in pregnant or lactating cats, or cats with gastrointestinal, liver, heart or kidney disorders.

What is it?

Metacam® oral suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and is used to reduce pain and inflammation in cats and guinea pigs.

Metacam® oral suspension can be used in cats for both chronic (long-term) musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, and acute (sudden and short-lived) musculoskeletal disorders, such as an injury.

Metacam® oral suspension can also be used to reduce post-operative pain and inflammation following soft tissue surgery in cats and guinea pigs, and orthopaedic (e.g. fracture repair) surgery in cats.

Metacam® oral suspension for cats and guinea pigs is a 0.5 mg/ml suspension and is available in 3 bottle sizes:

• 3ml • 15ml • 30ml

How is it administered?

The suspension should be administered orally, either mixed with food or directly into the mouth. For cats, the suspension is administered using the measuring syringe provided in the box or using the drop dispenser of the bottle. A dosing dish and syringe is available for guinea pigs.

Important information

Metacam® oral suspension can only be obtained with a prescription. For further information about using Metacam®, see the package leaflet or contact your vet or pharmacist.
